to free or not to free, as in ebooks

OK I figured out how to add people LOL. Until Blogger had this option, I wasn't really interested in it, cuz it was difficult to read "friends" blogs. I find LJ and MySpace much easier (though I really loathe the ad/sound/pic crap on myspace, guess I'm not that demographic LOL). I've been reading about TOR's new website where they offer free ebooks to download. COOL! I saved a bunch of them for later reading, though it's hard for me to sit at my computer writing all day AND then read an ebook, however, I can put one on my thumb drive and read it on my laptop (which is a dinosaur, laptop-wise, but hey, I haven't sold that first book yet! :). Does it work? Time will tell. Neil Gaimon talks about his book sales results here .
